Mental Health (Under 18)

It can be difficult as a young person dealing with mental health issues. It can feel very lonely. Parents or other family and friends may not know where to turn but there is plenty of help around.

This page has resources that are available and can be accessed without needing to see your GP. Most Mental Health issues can be dealt with by accessing these services. This includes:

  • Anxiety
  • Low Mood
  • Bullying
  • Behavioural issues
  • Self Harm (Mild to Moderate)
  • Poor Self Esteem
  • Bereavement

However if you are in a crisis you need to access help urgently by any of the following ways:

  • Calling the practice – 01773 602707
  • 999 (if there is imminent threat to life)
  • Attending the nearest A&E

There are also other resources in a crisis that you can access, some 24/7:

  • Behaviour problems where the behaviour falls outside what might be considered to be within the range of normal behaviour
  • Emotional difficulties (Mild to moderate)
  • Family difficulties
  • Adjustment reactions (i.e. managing transition, change)
  • Simple phobias
  • Bullying where this is having a significant impact on emotional wellbeing (direct/indirect/cyber)

They offer psychologically informed interventions with children/young people and families, which is focused and time limited as per the NICE guidelines
