Health Monitor (Waiting Area’s)

We have a healthcare monitor available for Jessop Medical Practice patients to use, in just 90 seconds it will:

• Record Diastolic and Systolic Blood Pressure
• Measure Height Weight
• Automatically Calculate Body Mass Index (BMI)
• Record Pulse
• Display results on screen (please note: results will not be spoken out loud)
• Print Results on a Ticket for the Patient to Keep

Where is the monitor located?

• The healthcare monitor can be found in both waiting room areas at Leabrooks and Ripley.

How do I use the monitor at Leabrooks? 

There are also information posters on the machine and the notice board with more detailed instructions.

How do I use the monitor at Ripley?

1.	You will need to ask for a token from the reception desk.
2.	Insert token in required slot.
3.	Step onto the machine. (Remove shoes and any watch or jewellery on the left wrist).
4.	Stand still and bolt upright, ensuring you are under the overhead sensor.
5.	Insert left wrist, without watch and rest on the cuff.
6.	It takes around 90 seconds to take your measurements.
7.	Once the cuff has fully deflated, remove wrist and step off the machine.
8.	You will receive a printout of your measurements from the machine.

If you have any problems using the machine, please ask a member of staff.

Why do I need to rest for 10 minutes before use? 

• By taking a 10 minute rest before using the machine this will improve the precision and accuracy of the measurement. 

Please note:

• The health monitor at Leabrooks is located in the corner of the reception waiting area. 
• The health monitor at Ripley is located between the entrance and waiting area. The machine is shared with Ivy Grove Surgery and is placed in a suitable position that is accessable for patients at both surgeries. 
• Unfortunately we are unable to offer private rooms for the monitor to be located due to no available rooms. 
• For health and safety reasons we are unable to provide privacy screens around the monitors.
