Flu 20/21

Important information about Flu – please read the following information before booking in or contacting the surgery.

You will no doubt have heard in the media this morning, that those age 50-64 will be able to receive a flu vaccine from 1/12/20. General practices are learning this information at the same time as you. Practices are doing all they can to prepare and source vaccines, they will be in contact with patients as soon as they are able. In the meantime please do not contact your surgery about flu vaccines if you are in this group until you are asked to do so.

Please see the information below about patient eligibility, the clinics we are providing and when the vaccines arrive at the surgery. The groups are phased to allow us to prioritise the most at risk patients first.

Please remember to bring a face covering to all appointments.

Age Group Eligibility Dates
Over 65s All patients over 65 on 31/03/2021 are eligible for a flu jab. From 1st September
At risk group under 65 Please see below information on clinical risk groups eligible for flu vaccination. From 22nd September
All 2 and 3 year olds Nasal Spray will be available for this age group. Available to book from 5th October
Carers Those who are in receipt of carers allowance, or are the main carer of an older or disabled person who’s welfare may be at risk if the carer falls ill. See above depending on carers age.
Additional Groups 2020/2021
50-64 year olds not in an at risk group Individuals 50-64 years, following prioritisation of other eligible groups and subject to vaccine supply. Please note that people in the 50-64-year old age group will not be vaccinated until November and December, providing there is sufficient vaccine, and no appointments will be offered for this age group until then. This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first.  If you are 50-64 and you are in one of the other groups which is eligible for the flu vaccination, for example you have a health condition which puts you at risk from the flu, you will be invited earlier.
